Mahirood Customs Becomes Iran’s Main Export Route to Afghanistan

Mahirood Customs in Iran’s South Khorasan Province has been designated as the country’s primary export route to Afghanistan, with official data showing that over one-third of Iran’s exports to its eastern neighbor pass through this entry point.
According to Iranian officials, around 36 percent of the total exports from Iran to Afghanistan are transited via the Mahirood Customs, which is situated near the two countries’ shared border and plays a crucial role in bilateral trade.
Mahirood is considered one of the active border crossings between Iran and Afghanistan, and in recent years, it has gained increasing importance due to a rise in trade volume, becoming a key channel for exporting goods to the Afghan market.
Afghanistan remains a significant destination for Iranian exports, and developments at border crossings directly influence the supply of goods and the flow of trade between the two nations.
