Taliban Intensifies Crackdown on Tinted Vehicles and Illegal Weapons in Kabul

Kabul police, under the control of the Taliban administration, have announced a stepped-up campaign to remove black-tinted vehicles and seize illegal weapons across multiple areas of the capital through the establishment of new checkpoints.

According to the Kabul Police Command, security forces have been conducting extensive inspections throughout the city to identify vehicles and individuals operating without proper documentation. The operation is ongoing across various neighborhoods of the capital.

Authorities report that during the campaign, more than 200 permits, documents, letters, and similar materials—used for carrying weapons and operating tinted vehicles—have been confiscated.

While the Taliban administration has described these actions as part of efforts to maintain law and order, concerns have emerged among Kabul residents over the lack of transparency in the implementation of the directives, and the potential for arbitrary actions at checkpoints. These concerns revolve around the protection of civil rights and the possibility of abusive behavior by security forces.
