UNDP Official Visits Earthquake-Hit and Displaced Communities in Afghanistan

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced that Shoko Noda, one of its senior representatives, visited areas in Afghanistan affected by earthquakes, economic hardship, and displacement during a recent trip to the country.
According to the UNDP, the purpose of the trip was to assess the conditions of local communities and to examine community-led initiatives aimed at rebuilding and strengthening resilience. The visits highlighted local efforts to revive daily life and gradually restore stability.
The report noted a particular focus on women’s livelihood programs, community-based job creation, and the use of renewable energy solutions — sectors that currently face severe constraints and challenges in Afghanistan, especially under Taliban rule.
The UNDP stressed that supporting community-driven initiatives can play a crucial role in enhancing the resilience of the Afghan people. However, it emphasized that the continuation of these efforts requires a conducive environment, equal access, and the removal of restrictions that hinder the progress of improving residents’ lives.
