Kyiv Mayor Warns of Plummeting Trust in Zelensky Amid Energy Corruption Scandal

The mayor of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, has stated that a recent corruption scandal in the country’s energy sector has significantly eroded public trust in President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Vitali Klitschko, the city’s mayor, described the fallout from the case as “very bad” for Ukraine and stressed that the level of corruption involved had severely damaged the nation’s credibility. According to Klitschko, the incident is not just an internal crisis but one that has broader implications for public confidence.
He added that such scandals not only undermine trust among Ukrainian citizens but also harm the confidence of the country’s international partners—something that could jeopardize foreign cooperation and support.
Back in November, reports emerged indicating that the main figure in a major financial corruption case in Ukraine was closely affiliated with the president and had fled to Russian-occupied territories. The case allegedly involves around $100 million in money laundering.
