Taliban Authorities Discuss Land Allocation to Address Housing Crisis in Kabul

The Taliban-run Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has announced that a meeting took place between Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani and Mawlawi Mahmood Mazloom, Head of Land Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, to discuss land transfers for implementing residential projects in Kabul.
According to information from the ministry, the two sides agreed to establish a technical committee to examine and resolve technical issues related to the land transfer. It was also emphasized that the process of allocating land for the construction of housing for returnees should be made simpler and faster.
During the meeting, Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani stressed that work should not face delays, and any problems should be shared with the relevant authorities so that practical solutions can be found.
Meanwhile, the Head of Land Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture assured that technical teams from the department would prioritize requests from the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, and would not allow the process to be halted.
While the ministry has announced the initiation of efforts to tackle the housing shortage, concerns remain over the lack of transparency regarding timelines, project implementation methods, and equitable access to housing—all of which still require serious clarification and accountability from the Taliban administration.
