IOM Supports Growth of Small Enterprises in Laghman Province

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that its support for small businesses in Afghanistan’s Laghman province has led to job creation and an increase in local production.
According to the report, a local resident named Waheed began his work with a small shop selling polypropylene sacks. With backing from the IOM and in cooperation with the European Union, he has been able to boost his production capacity and provide employment opportunities for several community members.
The organization stated that the development of this workshop has now reached a stage where plans are underway to begin producing plastic sacks, a move expected to generate new job opportunities, particularly for returning migrants.
Laghman is one of the provinces where a significant portion of the economy relies on small-scale local businesses and investments. International organizations are working to strengthen the economic resilience of residents through these initiatives.
