Germany Pledges €2 Million to Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, Says UN OCHA

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that the German government has allocated a new contribution of €2 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund. According to OCHA, the aid aims to support individuals affected by crises and sudden events.
OCHA expressed appreciation for the donation, stating that continued assistance of this kind could offer a glimmer of hope for those whose lives have been disrupted by natural disasters and unforeseen shocks. The agency emphasized that humanitarian needs remain widespread and urgent across much of Afghanistan.
In recent years, rising poverty, unemployment, and the consequences of extensive restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration have made it increasingly difficult for millions of Afghans to access basic services, thereby deepening reliance on humanitarian aid. Relief organizations have repeatedly warned that, without sustained international support, the humanitarian situation could deteriorate further.
The Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund is one of the UN’s key mechanisms for financing emergency relief projects in the country. Contributions from countries such as Germany play a vital role in maintaining the operation of these initiatives.
