Germany Urges Acceleration of Afghan Refugee Transfers from Pakistan

Germany’s Foreign Minister has called for the expedited transfer of Afghan refugees currently residing in Pakistan, stressing that completing the process is a top priority for the German government.

According to German media reports, Johann Wadephul emphasized that Afghans who have already received formal acceptance commitments from Germany should be relocated to the country by the end of the current year via special flights from Pakistan.

The minister’s comments come amid continued uncertainty for thousands of Afghan refugees who fled their country following the Taliban’s takeover and who now face precarious legal and economic conditions in Pakistan.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that delays in the relocation and resettlement process expose these refugees to serious human and security risks—a situation caused not only by the policies of host countries but also by the Taliban’s governance inside Afghanistan.
