US Bases in Syria on High Alert Following Palmyra Attack

US military bases in Syria have been placed on high alert and tightened security following an attack in the city of Palmyra, Syrian local sources have reported.
According to these sources, American bases in several areas, including Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor, are now under heightened alert, with significantly increased military movements and security checks.
The sources added that US forces are concerned the Palmyra attack could mark the beginning of a new wave of assaults targeting their presence in Syria. Reports indicate the assailant was affiliated with a group led by Julani and had previously infiltrated the group’s security structure.
The Wall Street Journal, citing a US officer, reported that the attack took place during a meeting between a US officer and a Syrian Interior Ministry official in Palmyra. According to the officer, a lone armed individual appeared at a window and opened fire, prompting the soldiers present to return fire. The attacker was subsequently killed.
The report stated that several US soldiers were killed or wounded during the incident, although no specific casualty figures have been released.
