Two-Day Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo Opens in Kabul

The two-day ‘Shin Lari’ exhibition aimed at supporting women investors and entrepreneurs has opened in Kabul, organized by the Afghanistan Chamber of Women’s Commerce and Industry. More than 75 women entrepreneurs are participating, showcasing a variety of products for promotion and sale.

Fariba Noori, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Women’s Commerce and Industry, stated that this is the first time the organization has launched such an event. She said the goal is to provide practical opportunities for marketing and selling products made by women entrepreneurs. Handicrafts, jewelry, food items, and home decor goods are among the items being exhibited.

Noori emphasized that organizing such events can play a vital role in strengthening women’s economic empowerment, particularly at a time when Afghan women face severe restrictions in accessing employment, markets, and economic activities, and when official institutional support has drastically declined.

Hawa Rezai, one of the participants, said she has been producing pickles and jams for two years and sees the exhibition as a valuable opportunity for women to sell their products directly. She called for increased support for women investors.

Another participant, Shakiba Fazel, who has worked in the field of women’s handicrafts for five years, described the exhibition as a useful platform for marketing her products. In her view, such initiatives can help fill the gap left by the lack of structural support from the Taliban administration.
