Ancient Archaeological Site Unearthed in Laghman’s Alingar District

The Taliban-run Ministry of Information and Culture has announced the discovery of a new archaeological site in Alingar district of Laghman province, dating back to the pre-Christian era. Ancient artifacts have also been recovered from the area.

According to the ministry, the site is located in the village of Si-Tan in the Sav Valley of Alingar and includes stone stairs, 12 hand-carved rooms, and several other architectural remnants, indicating the presence of ancient civilizations in the region.

A statement from the ministry noted that a delegation led by the head of Laghman’s Department of Information and Culture visited the site and, with the help of local residents, confirmed its historical significance and collected several artifacts.

The Laghman Department of Information and Culture added that similar archaeological sites have previously been identified in various parts of the province, yielding numerous historical relics. The discovery underscores the critical need for the professional preservation of the country’s cultural heritage.
