Afghan Child Killed in Roadside Bomb Blast in South Waziristan

A young Afghan girl was killed in a roadside bomb explosion in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to Pakistani media citing police sources. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 12, on the main Wana-Karikot road, also destroying a key bridge in the region.
Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir, an official in South Waziristan, stated that the bomb detonated near the bridge, causing severe damage to its structure. Local sources reported that the bridge completely collapsed, significantly disrupting vehicle traffic in the area.
Police reports indicated that the girl was on the rooftop of a nearby house at the time of the explosion. The blast caused part of the house’s roof to collapse, severely injuring her.
Local residents rushed to the scene and transported the injured child to the emergency section of Wana’s central hospital. Medical staff said she was in critical condition upon arrival and ultimately succumbed to her injuries despite doctors’ efforts.
Following the explosion, South Waziristan police cordoned off the area, collected evidence, and launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the type of explosive device used. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
