National Resistance Front Claims Deadly Attack on Taliban Base in Panjshir

The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for a targeted attack on a Taliban base in the Dara district of Panjshir province on Monday evening.
In a statement, the group said the operation involved an explosion and rocket fire, resulting in the deaths of 17 Taliban members.
According to the statement, the targeted base was located in the village of Manjasto, part of the Abdullahkhil Valley region, and is considered one of the Taliban’s key military centers in the province. The NRF said the operation was carried out in two phases, beginning with the placement of a bomb followed by the launch of rockets at Taliban positions.
Local sources in Panjshir confirmed the explosion and armed clashes that night. However, Taliban officials have not commented on the incident.
The National Resistance Front emerged in Panjshir following the collapse of the republican government and has been engaged in several confrontations with Taliban forces across multiple provinces over the past four years. Its leader, Ahmad Massoud, has consistently maintained that the Taliban leadership is unwilling to pursue political dialogue, and has advocated armed resistance as the only viable way to end what he calls the group’s authoritarian rule.
Ongoing clashes in Panjshir and other northern regions highlight the continuing fragile security situation in Afghanistan. Experts say the Taliban’s silence on such incidents may point to vulnerabilities within the group’s military structure in certain areas.
