Religious Scholars in Kabul Call for Defense of Afghanistan’s Sovereignty

A major gathering of religious scholars and elders took place in Kabul, bringing together over a thousand participants. During the conference, attendees declared that defending Afghanistan’s values, rights, and territorial integrity against any form of aggression is a religious and moral duty. Such actions were described as a sacred jihad.
In the final resolution of the meeting, the Taliban administration was urged to prevent the deployment of individuals abroad for military activities, in line with the group’s leader’s directives. The scholars emphasized that no one has the right to use Afghan soil for military operations against other countries.
According to the organizers, if any individual or group disobeys this directive, the Taliban authorities are entitled to take action against them. The meeting comes amid growing concerns in recent weeks about cross-border activities by armed groups in some parts of the country. Political observers note that while the scholars’ emphasis on defending national sovereignty reflects a strong sense of independence, the Taliban administration must prove in practice that such decisions will not lead to religious authorities and Islamic doctrine being used as political tools.
