EU Reaffirms Support for Afghan Women and Girls Amid Ongoing Taliban Restrictions

The European Union has reiterated its commitment to supporting Afghan women and girls across various sectors during a ceremony marking the conclusion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The event, held in collaboration with UN Women in Afghanistan, brought together participants to share personal experiences and perspectives on existing challenges and future hopes.
During the gathering, EU representatives emphasized that the Union will continue its support in areas such as education, healthcare, the private sector, and in social and cultural spheres. They also called on the international community to sustain efforts aimed at reinforcing the status of women in Afghanistan, particularly under the country’s current difficult circumstances.
The event took place at a time when the Taliban administration continues to impose broad restrictions on women’s employment, education, and public presence. Observers say that the persistent emphasis by international organizations on women’s rights highlights global concern over the deteriorating human rights and social conditions in Afghanistan.
