One Arrested Over 35kg Cannabis Seizure in Baghlan Province

Baghlan security authorities have announced the seizure of 35 kilograms of cannabis by the province’s counter-narcotics police. The drugs were discovered and confiscated in an area of Pul-e-Khumri city, according to officials.

Security officials stated that the narcotics had been skillfully concealed inside a vehicle and were intended to be transported to an undisclosed location.

One suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident. Following preliminary investigations, they will be handed over to judicial authorities.

Officials added that further investigations are underway to uncover a possible smuggling network.

Baghlan has witnessed a rise in drug trafficking in recent years. Experts attribute this trend to weak oversight and the Taliban administration’s inefficiency in controlling smuggling routes, which has facilitated the growth of the illicit drug trade in northern Afghanistan.
