According to international media reports, a senior U.S. official told The Washington Post that President Donald Trump’s campaign team considers Volodymyr Zelensky unqualified to lead Ukraine.
The official stated that members of Trump’s team see Zelensky more as a comedian than an experienced politician, and believe his background as an actor playing a president on a television show is not a sufficient foundation for leading a country in crisis.
The source also noted that Zelensky’s limited command of the English language presents additional challenges in his diplomatic communications and interactions.
Previously, Donald Trump had repeatedly criticized Zelensky’s handling of the Ukraine war and urged the adoption of his own proposal to resolve the conflict. These remarks come as the war in Ukraine remains one of the central issues in U.S. foreign policy.
