Lavrov Warns of Russian Response to Foreign Troop Deployment in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that Moscow will retaliate if foreign troops are deployed on Ukrainian soil or if any countries attempt to confiscate Russian assets. According to Lavrov, Russia is prepared to respond appropriately should such plans be implemented.

Lavrov also stated that U.S. President Donald Trump has so far shown no willingness to lift sanctions against Russia. On the contrary, he said, economic pressure has increased under Trump’s administration. Despite ongoing disagreements, Lavrov emphasized that both Washington and Moscow are committed to pursuing peace in Ukraine.

He went on to accuse the European Union of “political blindness,” saying that Europe is deceiving itself with the belief that it can defeat Russia. The Foreign Minister also described the emergence of a multipolar world order as an inevitable development, accusing European nations of deliberately obstructing the peace process in Ukraine.

On economic matters, Lavrov noted that Russia is moving away from reliance on the U.S. dollar—not by choice, but because the United States uses its currency as a tool for political pressure. He stressed that the shift toward alternative currencies will continue, and that Russia has been compelled to adapt to these changing conditions.
