Agricultural Technology Exhibition Held in Ghazni Province

The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Ghazni province, in collaboration with several private commercial companies, has organized an exhibition showcasing modern agricultural technologies and equipment in the Nani area of Andar district. The event was attended by farmers, agricultural experts, and several local officials.
The exhibition featured advanced equipment including drip irrigation systems, laser land-leveling machines, soil moisture detectors, solar-powered pumps, and machines for distributing seeds and fertilizers.
Zakaria Hotak, spokesperson for the Ghazni Agriculture Department, stated in his speech that the aim of the exhibition is to promote scientific and modern methods in agriculture and to reduce reliance on traditional practices. He added that using new technologies can help conserve water, ease farmers’ workloads, and improve soil fertility.
According to Hotak, close to two million dollars have been invested in procuring the equipment showcased at the exhibition. Abdul Wakil Matwakel, a representative of the Pir Saeed Trading Company, said they are working to import modern agricultural machinery from various countries to help modernize Afghanistan’s agricultural sector.
The exhibition comes at a time when many farmers in the southern provinces of Afghanistan face water shortages, a lack of modern equipment, and reduced technical support from the Taliban-led administration—circumstances that experts describe as serious obstacles to the country’s agricultural development.
