China Urges Dialogue to Ease Tensions Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

China has called for dialogue to resolve rising tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, expressing hope that differences between the two neighboring countries can be addressed through bilateral talks and mutual understanding.
Speaking at a press conference, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that regional stability benefits all neighboring states and reiterated China’s support for any process that leads to de-escalation and enhanced cooperation.
According to the spokesperson, Beijing is prepared to continue playing a constructive role in facilitating dialogue and fostering trust between Kabul and Islamabad. In recent years, China has increasingly sought to strengthen ties among Central and South Asian nations through diplomatic initiatives.
Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have largely centered on border issues and the movement of people along the Durand Line. While the Taliban administration has also stressed the need for direct engagement with Pakistan, the lack of a clear diplomatic framework from the Taliban has maintained a climate of mistrust between the two sides.
Experts warn that if these tensions persist, they could jeopardize both regional security and trade, potentially complicating China’s role as a mediator.
