Qatar and Turkey Propose Plan to Disarm Hamas in Gaza Ceasefire Deal

Israeli sources have reported that Qatar and Turkey have proposed an initiative aimed at disarming the Hamas group as part of the second phase of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. According to the sources, the proposed plan includes two potential options: either Hamas’ weapons would be stored under international supervision, or they would be handed over to the Palestinian Authority.

These sources also mentioned a proposed two-year timeframe for the full implementation of the plan. However, officials in Tel Aviv are reportedly pushing to accelerate the process and reduce the timeline to a few months.

Meanwhile, amid speculation about the disarmament plan, Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza, has repeatedly stated that the group will only consider relinquishing its weapons once Israeli occupation ends. He emphasized that if the occupation ceases, Hamas would be ready to hand over its weapons to a government that in the future represents the Palestinian people and governs Gaza.
