Iran Voices Concern Over Border Tensions Between Taliban and Pakistan

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has expressed concern over ongoing tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan, warning that insecurity along the country’s surrounding borders could negatively impact regional stability.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, December 6, Esmail Baghaei emphasized that Iran shares cultural and historical ties with both nations, and any border clashes could have harmful consequences for all neighboring countries.

According to Baghaei, Tehran is in contact with officials in both Pakistan and Afghanistan and is ready to mediate and cooperate to ease tensions through dialogue. He added that maintaining calm along the borders is in the interest of all countries in the region, and Iran advocates for the peaceful resolution of bilateral disputes between the Taliban administration and Pakistan.

Analysts say that escalating conflicts along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border not only affect the security situation in both countries but have also raised concerns among neighboring states, including Iran. While the Taliban administration claims full control over border regions, reports indicate ongoing security challenges and the absence of effective mechanisms to resolve border disputes between the two sides.
