Pakistan Intensifies Crackdown on Afghan Refugees Amid Border Tensions

Sources in Islamabad report that Pakistani police have intensified operations against Afghan refugees, with raids on homes, door break-ins, and mass arrests across various areas of the city—particularly in the Faisal Town neighborhood. These sources, speaking on Sunday, December 6, shared video footage documenting harsh police actions, clearly showing scenes of forced entries and physical confrontations.
The crackdown comes amid escalating border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban administration. Pakistani authorities appear to have ramped up interrogations, arrests, and deportations of Afghan refugees to an unprecedented level. As of now, police operations in Faisal Town are ongoing and have sparked growing concern within the refugee community.
Despite the closure of some border crossings, Pakistani police are forcibly deporting detained Afghan refugees—after biometric registration—via the Torkham and Spin Boldak border points. The affected refugees stress they have no affiliation with the Taliban administration and had fled to Pakistan to escape their oppression. They are urging the Pakistani government not to make them victims of bilateral retaliation and are calling for respect for their human rights.
