Kherson Expresses Readiness to Export Wheat to Afghanistan, Taliban Envoy Confirms

Mawlawi Gol Hasan Hasan, the Taliban administration’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, participated in the Second Tauride International Investment and Economic Forum. During the event, Vladimir Saldo, governor of Russia’s Kherson region, expressed readiness to export agricultural products, especially wheat, to Afghanistan. The offer comes amid serious food security challenges facing the country.
According to the Taliban embassy in Moscow, Ambassador Hasan also emphasized the importance of expanding exports, imports, and mutual economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia. These efforts are seen as a step toward strengthening bilateral trade relations, particularly in the agricultural sector. Economic ties between Kabul and Moscow have undergone updates since the Taliban took power.
Kherson, located in southern Ukraine, is considered a major grain-producing area. The region, which is currently partly under the control of the Russian Federation, holds significant potential for supplying wheat and other agricultural goods. However, the Taliban administration is expected to proceed cautiously with such partnerships to ensure the national interests of Afghans are prioritized.
