Afghan National Resistance Front Welcomes Australian Sanctions on Taliban Officials

Ali Maisam Nazary, Head of Foreign Relations for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, has welcomed the Australian government’s sanctions and travel bans targeting senior Taliban officials, describing the move as “an important step toward holding the Taliban accountable.” He said the sanctions reflect increasing international pressure on the Taliban regime, which took control of Afghanistan following the collapse of the republic.

Nazary emphasized that Afghans have endured “widespread violations of fundamental rights” over the past four years and said Australia’s decision sends “a clear message that the world is no longer willing to turn a blind eye to the Taliban’s crimes.” His comments come amid repeated concerns voiced by international human rights organizations over the human rights situation in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, with calls for greater global attention to the issue.
