New Round of U.S.-Ukraine Peace Talks Held

The United States Department of State has announced that a new round of negotiations between American and Ukrainian officials has taken place as part of efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

The talks included Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy for Peace, and Jared Kushner, Senior Advisor to the White House, who met with Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, and General Andriy Hnatov, Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the U.S. State Department, both sides discussed practical and credible pathways to end the ongoing war in Ukraine and to establish a long-term agreement. During the sessions, U.S. representatives also shared key elements of their recent discussions with Russian counterparts with the Ukrainian delegation.

Washington emphasized that the primary goal of the talks was to explore routes to end the war and assess the necessary steps to achieve regional stability. The outcomes of these discussions are intended to serve as a foundation for future negotiations.

While the United States has spoken of drafting a comprehensive framework to resolve the Ukraine crisis, it noted that the plan has not yet been finalized and its release depends on further evaluations. Meanwhile, the Kremlin stated that Moscow remains committed to the negotiation process and will continue to follow the talks held in Anchorage, Alaska.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also remarked during a recent meeting of his Security Council that the U.S. initiative could serve as a foundation for a final peace agreement, although the proposal has not yet been formally debated.
