Taliban Envoy Meets Kyrgyz Official to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Mawlawi Abdushakur Haqqani, the Taliban chargé d’affaires in Kyrgyzstan, met with Mirbek Bakytovich, the Fourth Deputy of the Political Division at the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Bishkek.
According to a statement from the Afghan Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the meeting focused on expanding cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields, as well as enhancing trade relations between Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
During the talks, Bakytovich reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s support for peace and stability in Afghanistan. He emphasized that creating economic opportunities in the region—particularly the launch of the CASA-1000 energy transmission project—is a key priority for his country.
This meeting comes as the Taliban administration, despite controlling Afghanistan, remains unrecognized by most countries, including Kyrgyzstan. While the Taliban continue their regional diplomatic efforts to gain legitimacy, serious concerns persist regarding women’s rights, human rights, and the delivery of essential services under their rule.
