Syrian Analyst Warns of Ongoing Terror Threat in Syria and Iraq

Syrian political analyst Mohammad Toutanji has warned of the continued presence of terrorist elements within Syrian territory, stating that the threat posed by terrorist groups is not only a serious concern for Syria but also for regional security, especially in Iraq.
He stated that terrorist groups remain active in parts of Syria, with some continuing their operations with the backing of local or regional security and political structures.
Toutanji emphasized that the security ties between countries such as Syria and Iraq mean that instability in one has a direct impact on the other. According to him, Iraq has suffered the most from the persistence of this situation.
The analyst called on the international community to take more decisive and practical steps to prevent the resurgence of these threats and to abandon its current policy of silence.
Previously, another Syrian analyst, Shawq Ibrahim, had described the widespread protests against groups affiliated with Abu Mohammad al-Joulani as signs of the collapse of governance structures in certain parts of Syria.
