Three New Drinking Water Networks Launched in Uruzgan Province

The Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Uruzgan Province has announced the completion of three water supply networks in the Chora and Chenarto districts. According to the department, with the launch of these projects, 502 families in these areas now have access to safe drinking water.
Funded by a charitable organization at a total cost of more than 12.8 million Afghanis, the initiative included the drilling of three deep wells, the construction of three water reservoirs with capacities of 60, 40, and 20 cubic meters, the installation of over 6,600 meters of piping, and the setting up of 198 public water taps in various locations.
The department noted that during the implementation of these projects, hundreds of local residents were provided with temporary jobs.
These types of projects are being implemented at a time when the Taliban administration has failed to deliver comprehensive and sustainable infrastructure and rural development programs. In the absence of effective government support, reliance on aid from foreign organizations and relief agencies for basic necessities continues among the population.
