Afghan National in Texas Charged Over Suicide Bomb Threats

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that Dawood Alkozai, an Afghan national residing in Fort Worth, Texas, has been indicted in federal court on charges of threatening to build a bomb, carrying out a suicide attack, and killing American citizens.
According to information released by the Department, if the allegations against Alkozai are proven, he could face up to five years in prison under U.S. federal criminal statutes.
The charges are based on videos that, according to U.S. officials, Alkozai had posted on his official accounts on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook. In these videos, he allegedly made violent threats, including references to suicide attacks and the murder of American citizens.
Amid growing security concerns in the United States over online threats, cases like Alkozai’s are treated with heightened sensitivity. The case also raises alarms for Afghan expatriates, especially as global perceptions of Afghanistan have become increasingly strained following the Taliban’s return to power.
