Egypt-Israel Intelligence Talks in Cairo End Without Agreement

A recent meeting in Cairo between Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, and David Zini, chief of Israel’s Shin Bet security agency, concluded without reaching a concrete agreement.

According to Egyptian sources, Cairo rejected Israel’s proposals for exclusive reconstruction efforts in areas under Israeli control in southern Gaza, insisting instead that aid should be distributed across the entire region. Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to the outcomes of the Sharm el-Sheikh summit.

Cairo also voiced concern over U.S. efforts to deploy international forces in Gaza, maintaining a cautious stance on the initiative. Egyptian officials believe that the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the halt of Israeli airstrikes remains a key obstacle in advancing the talks.

Meanwhile, several countries have expressed reluctance to send troops to Gaza. Egypt’s position reflects growing international pressure to find a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the humanitarian crisis in the region.

The latest developments have once again highlighted the Taliban administration’s inaction regarding the defense of Palestinian rights and broader support for international law. The administration’s continued silence on such regional issues further raises questions about its legitimacy and credibility.
