Hunger Crisis Deepens in Afghanistan as South Korea Delivers Aid

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan has announced that, amid the worsening hunger and malnutrition crisis in the country, it has been able to assist thousands of vulnerable families with the support of international partners, including the government of South Korea.

Song Ji, WFP Afghanistan Policy Officer, highlighted the positive impact of this assistance, stating that cooperation from South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs played a key role in delivering essential food and nutritional supplies to at-risk households.

The WFP emphasized that as the humanitarian crisis continues and constraints imposed by the Taliban authorities persist, international aid remains vital and life-saving. The agency has warned that millions across Afghanistan face the threat of food insecurity and malnutrition and are in urgent need of global support.

While the Taliban’s restrictive policies have complicated humanitarian access in various regions, implementing food and nutrition projects in partnership with donor countries remains one of the few viable options to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people.
