Taliban Officials Hold Talks with Uzbekistan on Meat Exports and Agricultural Cooperation

In an official meeting held in Kabul, Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of the Taliban administration, met with Jamshid Abduzokirov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Uzbekistan, to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries.
The main focus of the meeting was Afghanistan’s meat exports to Uzbekistan, the establishment of new orchards in Andkhoy district of Faryab province, and the exchange of expertise on the use of improved seed varieties.
The Taliban official emphasized that Afghanistan’s private sector is ready to collaborate with Uzbekistan in the production and supply of meat. He also proposed the creation of large-scale, standard livestock farms at various levels.
For his part, the Uzbek deputy minister noted that trade between the two countries has significantly increased in recent years. He stated that the goal of the Uzbek delegation’s high-level visit to Afghanistan is to purchase meat, support the development of orchards in Faryab, and engage in joint efforts in seed production.
Similar meetings between the Taliban administration and neighboring countries suggest continued efforts to revive economic relations, despite the Taliban’s ongoing struggles with domestic and international legitimacy.
