Egypt’s Defense Minister Warns of Looming Full-Scale War in Middle East

Egyptian Defense Minister General Abdel-Meguid Saqr has warned that the Middle East is at risk of sliding into an all-out war, raising concerns that such a conflict could have unpredictable consequences for the future of the world.
Speaking amid escalating tensions in the region, General Saqr emphasized that Egypt has long warned against the expansion of regional conflicts. He highlighted that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has repeatedly voiced these concerns and worked to counter the dangerous trajectory through dialogue and peaceful efforts.
He noted that Egypt has taken initiatives such as hosting peace conferences—most notably in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh—to bring together peace-seeking nations and support political solutions to end the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.
General Saqr also stated that the use of force and reliance on military power pose a threat to regional stability and warned that prioritizing domination over political wisdom could lead to far-reaching consequences. He called for constant readiness to meet security threats and challenges.
His remarks come at a time of growing unrest in the Middle East, particularly in Palestine. Several governments, including the Taliban administration in Afghanistan—which lacks international legitimacy—have contributed to regional instability, either through silence or violent actions.
