Taliban Forces Kill Recently Deported Afghan Man in Mazar-i-Sharif

Taliban-affiliated forces have shot and killed a resident of Daikundi province in Mazar-i-Sharif. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 26, in the Ali Abad area of the city.
According to a report by the 8am newspaper, local sources say the victim, identified as Ali Khan Akbari, had recently returned to Afghanistan with his family after being deported from Iran. The family had only recently settled in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Sources say the Taliban shot Ali Khan in front of his home without providing any reasons or pressing any charges. Witnesses confirmed that the killing was sudden and carried out directly.
Local sources also stated that Ali Khan’s family had previously suffered at the hands of the Taliban. Three years ago, several of his relatives, including women and children, were killed by the Taliban in the Siawak area of Shibar district, Daikundi province.
The continued violence and extrajudicial killings by the Taliban administration have raised serious concerns over the safety of returning refugees and local residents, adding to the trauma of those affected by years of conflict. Despite numerous reports of human rights violations under Taliban rule, there remains no effective mechanism to hold the regime accountable.
