Pakistani Police Arrest Another Afghan Journalist in Islamabad

Local sources in Islamabad report that Pakistani police have arrested Afghan journalist Hamoon Khamosh on Sunday, November 29, in the B-17 area of the city. The arrest reportedly took place during a broad police operation targeting Afghan migrants in the area.
Sources, speaking to Aamou News Agency on condition of anonymity, said that a large number of Afghan migrants were detained in the operation, although the exact number remains unknown.
Pakistani authorities have yet to comment on the reasons behind the journalist’s arrest or his current status. The silence from officials has raised concerns over the safety and legal rights of Afghan journalists living in Pakistan.
This arrest comes amid an intensifying crackdown by Pakistani police on Afghan migrants in recent weeks, particularly targeting journalists and media activists. Human rights and press freedom organizations have repeatedly raised alarm over the censorship, threats, and arrests of Afghan journalists by Pakistani security agencies.
In the absence of support and protection from the Taliban administration, many Afghan journalists fled the country following the group’s return to power. Mounting pressure on refugee journalists in neighboring countries has triggered renewed warnings over press freedom and their personal safety.
