Russia Warns of Military Response to US Missile Deployment

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has warned that the deployment of US intermediate-range missile systems in various regions could prompt a military and technical response from Moscow if Russian interests are threatened.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Ryabkov stressed that Moscow is fully prepared for any potential US actions and will not leave any security threat unanswered.
According to Ryabkov, ad hoc communications between Russia and the United States regarding prisoner exchanges are ongoing. He also stated that Moscow supports “constructive negotiations without meaningless political games” on the issue of Ukraine.
The deputy foreign minister also noted that the visit of Steven Wiktorowicz, the US special envoy for Middle Eastern affairs, to Russia is proceeding as planned. He said Moscow is ready to consider any proposals Wiktorowicz may present during his trip.
Ryabkov further claimed that several European countries are attempting to disrupt efforts to reach a Russian-American agreement on the Ukraine issue. He asserted that these countries are obstructing dialogue and engaging in interventions aimed at derailing progress.
These developments come as the Ukraine crisis remains a significant source of international tension. Any shifts in the military balance between the US and Russia could have serious implications for global security.
