Taliban Industry Minister Attends Global Halal Expo in Istanbul

As one of the world’s largest halal trade events takes place in Istanbul, Nooruddin Azizi, representing the Taliban administration as Minister of Industry and Commerce, participated in the summit and delivered a speech.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Azizi emphasized in his address the importance of expanding halal trade, strengthening economic cooperation, and increasing Afghanistan’s presence in both regional and international markets.

The conference and exhibition, which ran from November 26 to 29 in Istanbul, Turkey, brought together government officials and private sector representatives from over 110 countries. The strong international turnout underscored the growing importance of the global halal products market.

Alongside international companies, several Afghan traders and businesses also took part in the exhibition, aiming to showcase the country’s industrial capabilities, attract investment, and promote domestic product markets.

Despite the Taliban administration’s efforts to present a credible image on the international stage through participation in such events, its lack of international legitimacy, absence of a clear and supportive economic policy, and increasing restrictions on economic activities within Afghanistan pose significant obstacles to the country’s industrial and commercial development.
