Nine Killed, 16 Injured in Traffic Accident in Faryab Province

A tragic traffic accident in Pashtunkot district of Faryab province has claimed the lives of nine people. Among the victims were women and children, while 16 others were injured. Local officials affiliated with the Taliban administration reported that some of the injured are in critical condition.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, in the mountainous area of Kotal Gardana in the Rahi village, located in Pashtunkot district. According to reports, the vehicle carrying the victims lost control while descending from the mountain pass and overturned.
Local residents said the wounded were taken by community members to the Miandara health center and the main hospital in the city of Maymana. Most of the victims were reportedly residents of Taimuri village in the Almar district, traveling to Rahi village at the time of the crash.
The Taliban-run administration in Faryab cited poor road conditions and driver negligence as key factors behind the deadly accident. The lack of effective plans to rebuild transportation infrastructure and the absence of strict vehicle monitoring remain pressing concerns for local residents.
With the rise in such incidents, serious questions are mounting over the Taliban administration’s ability to ensure road safety and safeguard citizens’ lives.
