Baghlan Power Company Revenue Surpasses Monthly Target

The Baghlan office of Breshna, Afghanistan’s national power company, has reported collecting over 100.78 million Afghanis in revenue over the past month—an amount officials say exceeds the projected target and indicates improved revenue collection efforts.

Mohammad Ramin Khorram, head of the office’s press department, said the funds were collected from customers with outstanding electricity bills. He emphasized that the revenue has been deposited into the government treasury.

According to Khorram, the boost in revenue is the result of several measures, including stricter oversight of employee performance, meetings with officials from debtor institutions, and cutting power to those who had failed to pay multiple billing cycles.

Khorram also highlighted the role of structured management, coordination among departments, and the implementation of financial policies in improving transparency and financial order.

However, despite the seemingly positive figures, serious questions remain about how these funds are being spent, particularly under Taliban rule, where accountability remains a significant concern.
