Taliban Condemns Pakistani Airstrikes on Eastern Provinces as ‘Unproductive and Provocative’

The Taliban administration has condemned Pakistani military airstrikes on Afghanistan’s eastern provinces, calling the attacks fruitless and a violation of international norms.

In a statement issued Monday, the Taliban said Pakistani warplanes carried out airstrikes overnight on parts of Paktika, Khost, and Kunar provinces. The group described the move as a clear violation of all accepted international principles and an act of aggression against Afghan sovereignty.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, strongly criticized the incident, stating that such operations by Pakistani forces yield no real results. He further warned that these actions are repeated mistakes based on false intelligence that only contribute to further instability in the region and damage Pakistan’s military reputation globally.

Mujahid added that the Taliban strongly condemns what it called a “crime and violation,” labeling the airstrikes as provocative measures that could negatively impact Afghanistan’s national security.

He also warned that the Taliban considers the defense of its land and people, including control over its airspace and territory, as a legitimate right. He stated that the group would respond to such actions at an appropriate time and place.

Pakistani attacks on Afghan soil have previously escalated tensions between the two sides. Amid the absence of a recognized government in Kabul, Afghan citizens have frequently voiced concerns over the lack of a strong response to such incursions.
