Over 12,000 Birth Certificates Issued Nationwide in One Month

The National Statistics and Information Authority reports that 12,137 birth certificates were distributed across the country during the month of Qaws this year. According to the authority’s data, out of the total certificates issued, 7,667 were for adults and 4,470 for children.

The authority stated that Kabul province held the largest share, with 7,419 birth certificates distributed. Following Kabul, the provinces of Khost with 1,390 cards, Balkh with 860, Nangarhar with 834, and Herat with 276 birth certificates ranked next.

Published statistics indicate that 6,964 birth certificates were distributed through Easervice centers in Kabul and other provinces. Additionally, 5,173 birth certificates were handed over to applicants by the Vital Events Registration Directorate and the Vital Statistics Sections of provincial Statistics and Information Directorates.

During the same month, the National Statistics and Information Authority also announced the distribution of 2,194 death certificates nationwide. According to the authority’s data, the highest number of death certificates were distributed in the provinces of Kabul, Kandahar, Kunduz, Khost, Jowzjan, and Paktia.

The Directorate for Vital Events Registration and Foreign Nationals Affairs at the National Statistics and Information Authority is responsible for recording vital events, including births, deaths, marriages, and divorces. It also oversees the registration of foreign nationals’ entry and exit through official border crossings and airports, as well as providing related services concerning obtaining and renouncing citizenship.
