Tajikistan and China Discuss Afghanistan’s Stability in High-Level Talks

Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Dushanbe, with a significant portion of their discussions focused on developments in Afghanistan. According to officials from both countries, Afghanistan, as a shared neighbor, plays a key role in regional stability.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers of Tajikistan and China emphasized that despite the Taliban administration’s control, achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan requires regional and international cooperation. They pledged to continue collaborative efforts aimed at improving the situation in the country.

According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides also discussed a range of other topics, including bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in economic, security, and regional political spheres. China reiterated its commitment to advancing the Belt and Road Initiative at higher levels in cooperation with Tajikistan.

The Tajik foreign minister noted that relations between the two countries are founded on mutual trust, and that bilateral cooperation across various sectors—including security and the economy—is growing.
