UK Voices Support for Afghan Children’s Rights on World Children’s Day

As World Children’s Day is marked globally, the United Kingdom’s diplomatic mission for Afghanistan has announced support for Afghan children’s rights, expressing solidarity with efforts aimed at protecting their rights and improving their lives.
In a statement issued by the UK Mission to Afghanistan, it emphasized that all children deserve safety, access to quality education, and hope for a brighter future—rights that Afghan children are currently being severely denied.
Since seizing power, the Taliban administration has imposed widespread restrictions on education, freedom, and citizens’ security, particularly targeting girls. These measures have significantly hindered the growth and development of millions of children in the country. Meanwhile, the international community has repeatedly stressed the protection of children’s fundamental rights as a key criterion for international legitimacy.
Child rights experts warn that continuing this alarming situation without meaningful international intervention and support could trap Afghanistan’s next generation in a cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and violence.
