Trump Again Blasts Biden for Abandoning U.S. Weapons in Afghanistan

U.S. President Donald Trump has once again criticized the Biden administration for leaving behind American weapons and military equipment in Afghanistan. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, November 17, during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Washington, Trump expressed outrage over images of the Taliban conducting military parades with U.S.-made weapons.
Trump stated that during his first term in office, the U.S. had made significant investments to rebuild its military, but a large portion of that equipment was lost in Afghanistan. Speaking sharply, he said, “Those weapons were foolishly abandoned because our country was run by incompetent people.”
The president has previously made repeated criticisms of how U.S. troops were withdrawn from Afghanistan, saying he cannot bear to see Taliban fighters using sophisticated American weaponry. He has asserted that these weapons must be reclaimed, though no concrete steps have yet been taken in that direction.
Some analysts argue that the mismanagement of the withdrawal and the subsequent transfer of U.S. arms into Taliban hands have not only compromised regional security but also emboldened extremist groups. The Taliban regime, which lacks international recognition, is now using these weapons to tighten its control over various parts of the country—a development that has fueled widespread concern among the Afghan population.
