Taliban Energy Officials Attend Iran Power Industry Exhibition

A delegation from the Taliban-led Ministry of Water and Energy recently participated in the International Electricity Industry Exhibition held in Tehran, Iran’s capital. The delegation toured various sections of the exhibition and gathered information on modern technologies for electricity generation and distribution.
Members of the delegation also met with Iranian officials responsible for organizing the exhibition. The meetings aimed to explore potential areas of cooperation in the electricity sector between the two countries. In a separate meeting with a representative of Iran’s Ministry of Energy, both sides discussed topics of mutual interest.
The delegation included Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Rahmani, Director General of Sustainable Energy; Engineer Mohammad Ismail Ammar Mamoozi, Head of Engineering Energy Advisory Services; and Mawlawi Bismillah Haidari, Director of the Energy Deputy Office.
The Taliban administration’s participation in such exhibitions comes at a time when Afghanistan’s power and energy sector faces serious challenges. Millions of citizens lack reliable electricity access, and the absence of a legitimate, expert, and accountable institution to develop power infrastructure has further exacerbated the country’s energy crisis.
