Eight Killed in Traffic Accidents in Kandahar and Badakhshan

Eight people lost their lives in two fatal traffic accidents that occurred on Friday, November 6, in the provinces of Kandahar and Badakhshan. Local sources in Kandahar confirmed that one of these incidents involved a collision between a minibus and a cargo vehicle in the Turi area of the Maiwand district, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals. Among the victims were a woman and a child.

According to the spokesman for the Taliban’s police command in Kandahar, the cause of this accident was cited as driver negligence. However, the lack of oversight in enforcing traffic laws on roads under Taliban control has raised serious questions. Analysts believe that the failure of responsible authorities to ensure road safety and train drivers poses a threat to the lives of many of the country’s residents.

In another incident, a traffic accident in the Shaki district of Badakhshan also resulted in one fatality. No further details are available regarding this incident, but independent sources indicate that the absence of preventive measures and immediate rescue services in such remote areas contributes to increased fatalities in these events.

The rising toll from traffic accidents amidst the lack of management and accountability from the Taliban administration has raised serious concerns among citizens and affected families, calling for urgent attention from civil and international organizations.
