Taliban Ban Women Without Burqas From Entering Government Offices

The Taliban administration has issued a new restriction on women, banning those who are not wearing the burqa from entering government offices, according to reports.
Sources told the Etilaatroz daily that in recent days, this rule has been implemented in several government institutions, including the Civil Registration Authority, the Ministry of Education, and the Prison Administration. Women not wearing burqas have reportedly been denied access to these government bodies.
In Herat province, local sources confirmed that Taliban officials prevented at least 50 women from entering the provincial Education Department. The policy appears to be enforced in multiple provinces across the country.
Sources speaking to Etilaatroz said the Taliban is seeking to enforce burqa-wearing as mandatory for Afghan women— a move critics describe as a blatant violation of fundamental rights and individual freedoms.
Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, restrictions on women’s education, employment, and freedom of movement have intensified significantly. With the introduction of this latest rule, women’s access to official spaces is now even more severely restricted.
