Mearsheimer: Iran Holds Upper Hand in Confrontation with the US
John Mearsheimer, a professor at the University of Chicago and an international relations theorist, stated in his latest remarks on the military tensions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States that Iran’s defensive capabilities are being assessed as greater than previously predicted, and Tehran holds the upper hand in this confrontation.
According to Mehr News Agency, the professor highlighted that many Western analysts have underestimated Iran’s capacity to counter US military power. He said that recent developments on the ground have demonstrated Iran’s ability to effectively withstand military pressures.
Mearsheimer added that even some internal Iranian calculations might not have fully reflected the level of this defensive readiness. He emphasized that current developments indicate Tehran has strengthened its position in this standoff.
