Pakistan PM Offers Condolences to Victims of Deadly Earthquake in Northern Afghanistan

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed condolences to the victims of a deadly earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan. In a message posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sharif conveyed his sorrow over the incident and offered sympathy to the families of those affected.
The statement came on Monday, November 2, just hours after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit northern provinces of Afghanistan, killing several people and injuring hundreds more.
According to the Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health, at least 20 people were killed and 534 others injured in the natural disaster. However, these figures have been met with skepticism as they were provided by official but non-independent sources.
In his message, Prime Minister Sharif said, “Pakistan stands with its Afghan brothers and sisters in this difficult time.” While the message of solidarity was widely shared on social media, many residents in the affected areas have yet to receive urgent and effective aid.
Currently, those living in the impacted regions face shortages of medical supplies, shelter, and basic services. Despite being responsible for delivering essential services to victims, the Taliban administration has failed to provide a prompt and effective response, sparking anger and concern among citizens.
